Frequently Asked Questions

At Blind Fitness, we approach fitness holistically: addressing each individual at the level of mind, body, and spirit. By offering access to the outdoors and nature, participants are able to deepen their connection with self and thereby increase their own mental wellness. Fitness is the ability to move freely and explore the world.

Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training helps you find your way and keeps you active. O&M training develops effective orientation skills— the ability to identify surroundings, and mobility— the ability to get from one location to another safely and efficiently. O&M training is one-on-one and supports individuals with a wide spectrum of vision loss in taking adventures either alone, using a white cane, a human guide, or with a guide dog.

Individuals of all ages and all levels and stages of vision loss can benefit from O&M training. We also educate community members, organizations, caregivers, family members and friends to learn how to best support the blind and low vision community and increase awareness of their abilities. We teach human guide techniques and best practices when engaging with someone with vision loss.
